Men like women that are self-confident and self-assured. They want to know that the woman that they are interested in are capable of living their lives without needing the constant approval of a man. This does not mean that women have to be hard, or overly self-reliant. It simply means that a woman that is capable of taking care of herself is highly regarded in the eyes of men. Independence in a woman is perceived as a very positive trait.
One of the main reasons that men like independent women is because it shows that the women can have a sense of self and purpose. Too often women rely on their relationships with their men in order to find themselves and understand what their purpose in life may be. In many ways this is not a good trait. No individuals should depend on another person in order to become fully aware of themselves. It’s as if someone is waiting for a man to give them a green light in order to begin living their lives. This is counterproductive to the growth of many women. Independent women have developed their own awareness and are able to share of themselves fully with another individual. Men like the fact that many independent woman have a solid sense of self outside of the relationship or connection with a man.
What men want when dealing with a woman is someone that is capable of standing her own while still being in a committed relationship. Men want the reassurance that they have a woman by their side that is capable of handling a variety of circumstances and situations. Just as women want men that are reliable and capable, men want women that are just the same. No one wants to feel as if they have all the burden of the relationship on their shoulders. This is particularly true during stressful times in a relationship where it is necessary that both individuals are committed in order to make the relationship work. An independent woman understands that while she is in a relationship it is still very important that she has her own identity and she is capable of assisting her partner with various aspects of the relationship.
True men understand the value of an independent woman. They know that independence is not a character trait that any man should be afraid of for women that possess this trait bring so much more to a relationship than those woman that are unable to make a move without the approval of their man. What man wants from women is to have someone that they can count on and know that she will follow through. Likewise, men like women that are able and willing to add to the relationship on a variety of different levels.
